The difference between a steel pier and a concrete pier is vastly different. The steel pier is a hydraulic-driven steel pier that’s manufactured after-the-fact. It’s all retro pier. Whereas, there’s 2 different types of concrete pier. There is a concrete pier that’s made when the home is built. It’s a pre-construction drilled pier that’s filled with concrete, and then there’s a grade beam that goes on top of it. There’s also a segmented pier that’s on the market as well today. That is an after-market pier that’s done in small segments, which is driven in at a shallow level. Those piers are not typically as strong and do as good a job as a steel pier today.
